Wasiyyah was built to help Muslims fulfil a religious obligation without compromising their privacy. This page explains, plainly, exactly what happens to your information.
Your wasiyyah content
Everything you write in the will-building tool, your personal details, family structure, assets, funeral wishes, and messages to loved ones, is stored only in your browser's local storage, on your own device. It is never transmitted to, or stored on, any server we control. We cannot see it, access it, recover it, or hand it over to anyone, because it never reaches us in the first place.
If you clear your browser data, uninstall the app, or switch devices without exporting a backup, your saved wasiyyah will be lost. Use the export or backup feature within the tool to keep a copy.
What we do collect
A small number of features send limited information to our database provider, Supabase, used solely to operate the site:
- Reviews: if you submit a review, the text, your chosen display name or "Anonymous", and your country if provided are stored so the review can be shown to other visitors.
- Usage counter: an anonymous counter increments each time a wasiyyah is completed, so we can display how many people have used the tool. No personal or document data is included in this count.
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they use, so we can improve the tool. This measures aggregate behaviour, such as page views and general location by country, and never includes anything you write in your wasiyyah, which stays on your device regardless. IP addresses are anonymised. We do not use advertising pixels, and we do not sell, rent, or share any information with third parties for marketing purposes.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using a browser extension such as the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking third-party scripts in your browser settings.
Optional location data
The completion screen offers an optional "Add your location" feature. If you choose to use it, your device's coordinates are stored locally on your device only, as a personal reference point. This is never transmitted anywhere.
Contact form
The contact form on our homepage opens your device's email app with a pre-filled message addressed to us. The message is sent directly through your own email provider. It does not pass through or get stored on our servers.
Third-party services
We use the following external services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Supabase, database hosting for reviews and the usage counter
- Google Analytics, aggregate visitor statistics
- Buy Me a Coffee, processes optional donations; we never see your payment details
- Google Fonts, loads the typefaces used on this site
Your rights
Since your wasiyyah data never leaves your device, you are always in full control of it. You can export, delete, or edit it at any time from within the tool. For anything you have submitted to us directly, such as a review, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the update date at the top of this page will change. Significant changes will be noted on the homepage.
